I can't remember exactly what I ordered as it's been a while, but I think I went with the Spicy Tonkotsu with Sapporo noodles and the Ice Berry drink.

Very delicious! Excited to try this restaurant again!

This review is primarily for the vegetarian ramen. I've tried vegetarian ramen at a number of places in Dallas (Agu, Ichiro, Hinodeya, and Jinya), and the vegetarian ramen at Maru was probably my least favorite. It still tasted pretty good, and I enjoyed it.

The dish is creative, as you get a bowl with noodles (which may not be vegan; you'd have to ask), two egg halves, and tsukemono (Japanese pickled vegetables), which I've never seen before, and which is more interesting than having just bamboo shoots or some simpler veggies. The vegetarian broth is a miso broth, which tastes like a basic, good miso soup. So - tasty, but not the knock your socks off creamy vegetarian broths that some other shops put together.

They'll also sell the vegetarian ramen with (pork-based) tonkotsu broth, for flexitarians/omnivores/non-strict veggie folks. One person in my group got that, and I tried the tonkotsu. It was good, but not as good as the super rich soups I remember fondly from my prior meat-eating days. (Take that with a grain of salt, though, as it's been a few years, so my memory may be hazy!) The price is right, though; bowls of ramen are filling and under $10.

We also tried the tempura veggies ($5 for a portion large enough to share as an appetizer), which were good - they tasted much fresher and were less heavily breaded than most tempura veggies.

The design of the restaurant is lovely. While I enjoyed my food, I'd probably pick a different ramen joint for vegetarian ramen in the future.

Maru Ramen had the potential to be good but it just didn't meet my expectations.

    Pros:
-Very unique interior. I was a big fan of the design and eating area. I liked how the restaurant felt very modern but at the same time there was a contrast of being in nature as well.
-the food presentation looks pretty. the appearance of the food and all the pictures looked delicious and made me want to eat here.
-the service was good and attentive

    Cons:
-The food sadly turned out be just average. The noodles taste like your regular box ramen and the broth tasted a little to heavy for me.
-The restaurant is small so this place could be crowded very easily.

    The Recommendation
The food was not bad but I was hoping for something a little more tasty. I would come here for the ambiance but don't expect to eat amazing quality ramen.

Friday dinner is one of the busiest times to go anywhere, so this small restaurant felt crowded, dim, noisy, and understaffed. At one point, a waiter taking orders for another table was standing against the back of my chair because there was just no room.

The tonkotsu broth tasted too "peppery" for my taste, but the chashu pork slices were thick and delicious. The sapporo noodles and other toppings were ok. The shrimp tempura was average, so I wouldn't order it again.

Service was slow, probably because they were at max capacity. Our waiter was friendly but seemed very new, so it's understandable that she's probably still learning.

The overall experience wasn't very pleasant, and the food was average. If someone asked me to come here with them, I would. But if I get the choice, I'd pick somewhere else.

Walking inside, the interior is sooo different that what you would think it looks from the outside.

Super clean and cool ceiling! Theres plenty of tables but it is on the small side.

I got sat quickly during a Friday lunch and we were given our menus and taken our drink orders fairly quick.

I ordered a shoyu ramen with sapporo noodles. I like a chewy noodle and this was perfect.

The only sad part was that I felt that there wasnt enough broth. The broth was like 1mm above my noodles. It made it seem like there was a ton of noodles but that wasn't the case either. So 4 stars because most other places I have been to give plenty of broth and noodles for this price.

I left satisfied but not full so next time if I want to be really full I would need to order more noodles and broth but that would be another 5 bucks..

Presentation is definitely beautiful and I liked the chasu they made because it wasn't too fatty but my bf didnt like it too much.

I have heard mixed reviews from many of my friends and decided to give it a try for myself. I liked it but some of my friends and bf didn't like it or didn't like certain things about it. I thought it was really good but just small in size! Noodles were perfect!
